I have been an ACE certified personal trainer since 2010 and working with my clients and seeing them succeed has been truly rewarding. In 2014, after 16 years in corporate America as a chemist, I decided to pursue my dream of helping others achieve their fitness goals and started Realistic Fitness. Due to my love of endurance sports and coaching, I obtained my RRCA (run) and USAT level I (triathlon) coaching certifications. Strength training programs and finish lines change lives and I love being able to help others achieve their goals.
I have a passion for fitness and love a challenge. I grew up playing team sports but was not an avid runner until a friend challenged me to run a half marathon in 2007. In preparation for that race, I ran my first 5k and was hooked. Since that time I have run road races of all distances including over 14 marathons and an Ultra marathon (50mi). In 2011 I took up the sport of triathlon determined to become an Ironman and that dream came true in 2012 when I crossed the finish line at Ironman Florida. I have since completed two additional 140.6 triathlons (IMLP and Challenge AC) winning first in my age group at Challenge AC. While my heart is drawn to long course triathlon, I’m taking a break due to a chronic back issue which prohibits long hours of training on the bike. My goal is to someday get back to the 140.6 distance but in the meantime I am adapting, enjoying short course racing, and seeing where this journey takes me!
Strength training will always be my first love and I love sharing this passion with others. I believe we all need to a proper strength program to prepare us for the tasks we face in our daily lives. It’s not about lifting heavy weights and bulking up. The focus should be on a strong foundation and functional movements to keep us going strong in our later years. I work with my personal training clients to help them achieve this and to ensure they stay healthy and active!
As for my coaching, I enjoy working with all athletes ranging from the beginner to those looking to tackle a new distance or set a new PR. I recognize that we all have different goals and abilities and each training plan I write is tailored to the individual. I believe training should be fun and I strive to keep your workouts challenging and enjoyable. I enjoy getting to know my athletes personally and make it a point to connect with them regularly. In addition to getting you physically ready for race day, I will also work with you on the mental side of training and racing as well as race day nutrition and recovery. My goal is to keep training fun while getting you to the start line well prepared and healthy! I truly believe anything is possible and I consider myself lucky to be able to help people achieve their goals.
